📈 33 QSOS LOGGED: IN THE SHADE OF THE MILLENNIAL OLIVE TREES AT SAN SISINNIO PARK
The radio-trekking adventure along the Santa Barbara Mining Trail (CMSB) logs a new, charming chapter. For the Tenth Stage, my wife and I set out at a comfortable hour, ready to experience an immersion in nature right where stage number 10 of the Santa Barbara Mining Trail begins: the wonderful San Sisinnio Park in the municipality of Villacidro (Cadastral Code: L924) 🗺️✨.
🧺 The Shaded Refuge Among Barbecues and Pure Air
Today’s weather promised to be particularly hot, which is why we strategically decided to head for one of the shadiest areas of the entire park, setting up near a barbecue spot. To our great surprise, the area was completely deserted, allowing us to operate in absolute peace and quiet.
As our base, we used a pre-existing wooden picnic table. Our Skypper antenna was installed a short distance away in a strategic spot that allowed it to rise above the trees. Throughout the activation, we breathed exceptionally pure and pleasant air, fully enjoying a wonderful immersion in authentic Sardinian nature. 🌲📡🍃
📡 Low Propagation but with DX Treats (33 QSOs)
From a radio-electric standpoint, unfortunately, propagation activity turned out to be truly poor and subdued. For this reason, we only managed to log 33 contacts.
Despite the lower numbers than usual, the session yielded a high-prestige surprise: in the early afternoon, we recorded an interesting and noticeable propagation opening toward the Indian Ocean and Asia, adding a touch of true exotic DX to this tenth activation! 🌏📻
🏁 CONCLUSION AND GREETINGS
Sharing the passion for radio outdoors in such a bucolic setting, surrounded by greenery and cradled by the silence of San Sisinnio Park, made this tenth stage memorable. 33 QSOs logged, great company, and the awareness of having lived another special day along the CMSB.

The radio-trekking adventure along the Santa Barbara Mining Trail (CMSB) does not stop, taking another extraordinary step into the beating heart of mountainous Sardinia. Leaving the Staircase of San Simeone behind, my trusty penguin companion Giacomino and I are ready to fire up our rigs for Stage 10, scheduled for September 8th, 2026, starting STAY TUNED UTC.
For this unmissable portable session, our trusty white Panda 169 4×4 will lead us to a location of inestimable natural and spiritual value: we will position ourselves in the immediate vicinity of the suggestive San Sisinnio Park, in the municipal territory of Villacidro (Cadastral Code: L924; reference geographical coordinates: 39.42395, 8.73266).
🗺️ The Route and the Natural Setting
The official tenth stage of the trail connects Villacidro to the splendid woodland area of Monti Mannu, immersing hikers in a landscape dominated by towering peaks, streams, and lush vegetation. San Sisinnio Park, situated at the edge of the valley, is famous throughout the island for the presence of majestic millennial olive trees (sa tancara) and the rural church of the same name, which guards a centuries-old and deeply felt popular festival.
Activating reference 165DA/CMSB10 from this green oasis of peace and sacredness represents a unique thrill for us, blending respect for the natural environment with our timeless passion for radio and DX.

As always, we will use the Panda 4×4 as a mobile station and logistical base to set up our Skypper antenna. We look forward to seeing many of you in the 11-meter pile-up to collect another precious piece of this extraordinary traveling award.
