📻 WBA Commemorative Radio Activation: Festes del Barrio de l’Àngel de la Guarda 🌍
The Historical Background:
Nestled in the vibrant city of Alzira, in the province of Valencia (Spain), the traditional festivities of the Barri de l’Àngel de la Guarda (held around the Plaza de la Malva and surrounding streets) represent a deeply rooted cultural heartbeat. Dating back decades as a quintessential community gathering, these early September celebrations embody the true Mediterranean spirit of neighborly bonding. Historically blending solemn religious traditions—such as solemn processions and floral offerings—with lively popular events like the traditional Sopars de Pa i Porta (picnic-style community dinners), street music by local charangas, and vibrant cultural showcases, this neighborhood festival preserves the authentic folklore and social warmth of the region.
