The 30 Delta Alfa Dream Team has successfully completed a new and memorable WBA activation, operating from the wonderful natural setting of the Parc Natural de l’Albufera (in the immediate vicinity of Portet de Sollana). Despite the abrupt interruption due to bad weather, the final log speaks for itself: an extraordinary day for radio!

The Story of the Day (by Pepe)
The day started under the best possible auspices: wonderful weather, sunny, completely clear, and windless—a true luxury for a field activation.
- First Contact and Initial Pile-Up: At 07:39 UTC, the first signal hit the log. Propagation was decidedly good and allowed us to immediately build up a dense and fun pile-up. Among the notable connections, around 08:33 UTC, our friend Lars was present, well-heard this time. The 43rd Division also called us; it’s a pity we couldn’t complete the contact, as it was just a sporadic opening, and conditions toward that area were not optimal. Every activity deserves a break, so we had our “sacred lunch,” which we also took advantage of to make contact with Pascal and Syl, who were out on an activation as well.
- The Afternoon and Storm Shutdown: After lunch, everything was going well, traffic was flowing, the log kept growing while propagation maintained a slight decrease, and we continued calling until lunchtime. Things changed after lunch: rain alarms started going off, and we noticed the storm approaching. For our safety and that of the equipment, we had to pack up around 14:00 UTC. It wasn’t a bad idea, as a significant storm hit the area shortly afterward. It’s a shame we couldn’t continue the activity due to atmospheric conditions, but thank you very much for your participation, until next time, 73. Dream Team 30DA.

L’Albufera is not just a stunning wetland; it is a legendary ecosystem steeped in history. Located on the Gulf of Valencia’s coast, this shallow freshwater lagoon is separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a narrow sandbar (gamba) covered in lush pine forests and dunes.
Historically known to the Romans as Neklar and celebrated by Moorish poets as the “Mirror of the Sun,” l’Albufera has sustained local communities for centuries through traditional fishing and rich rice cultivation—in fact, it is widely considered the legendary birthplace of authentic Spanish paella! Today, it serves as a crucial sanctuary for hundreds of species of resident and migratory waterbirds, making it a true jewel of European biodiversity and a pristine backdrop for radio propagation. 📻🦅

For this field activation, Sergio, Pepe, and Javi will deploy a dedicated mono-element Delta Loop antenna.
