L’Albufera is not just a stunning wetland; it is a legendary ecosystem steeped in history. Located on the Gulf of Valencia’s coast, this shallow freshwater lagoon is separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a narrow sandbar (gamba) covered in lush pine forests and dunes.
Historically known to the Romans as Neklar and celebrated by Moorish poets as the “Mirror of the Sun,” l’Albufera has sustained local communities for centuries through traditional fishing and rich rice cultivation—in fact, it is widely considered the legendary birthplace of authentic Spanish paella! Today, it serves as a crucial sanctuary for hundreds of species of resident and migratory waterbirds, making it a true jewel of European biodiversity and a pristine backdrop for radio propagation. 📻🦅

For this field activation, Sergio, Pepe, and Javi will deploy a dedicated mono-element Delta Loop antenna. Known for its low noise floor, excellent directivity, and impressive gain on portable setups, the Delta Loop will help us punch through the summer QRM and pull weak DX signals straight out of the log.
