We are thrilled to announce an upcoming IOTA activation from the wild and mesmerizing El Hierro Island (IOTA AF-004), the smallest and most westerly of the Canary Islands! 🌋
From August 13th to 15th, 2026, team 34DA183 (Juan Carlos) will be operating in “Holiday Style” from this volcanic sanctuary. El Hierro is not just a destination; it is a piece of history. For over two centuries, this island—specifically the area surrounding the iconic Faro de Orchilla—was considered the “Edge of the Known World,” marking the historic Prime Meridian (Ferro Meridian). ⚓️
Surrounded by dramatic volcanic cliffs, primary laurel forests, and some of the clearest night skies on the planet, we will be transmitting from the proximity of this legendary lighthouse, where the ancient world met the vast Atlantic. 🌌
