Radio Activation Report: 161DA/D160 📻📡
- Location: Wrocław, Poland (Wielka Wyspa). The site is notable for the Sępolno housing development, a magnificent and unique “garden suburb” model. Designed by architects Paul Heim, Hermann Wahlich, and Albert Kempter and built between 1919 and 1935, the layout perfectly resembles the shape of an eagle when viewed from the air. 🦅🏡
- Geographic Context: Operations took place near the “Morskie Oko” bathing area, an environment blending dense residential planning with protected fauna and flora zones. 🌲🌳
- Operating Position: The station was set up near a 17-meter-tall artificial hill (137 m ASL), locally known as “Kilimanjaro,” which originated during the early 20th-century construction of the bathing complex. ⛰️🏔️
- Technical Setup:
- Rig: ICOM 7000 🎛️
- Power: 100 W ⚡
- Antenna: Skyper, installed at a height of 6 meters AGL. 📡
- Activity: The session covered the final phase of the morning propagation. A satisfactory QSO rate was achieved early on, followed by a noticeable decline in propagation conditions during the second half of the session. 📉
- Propagation Conditions: The band experienced low QRM with only sporadic, short-lived openings (lasting from a few seconds to a few minutes). While audio quality remained high, the S-meter was unstable or showed near-zero readings, making quantitative signal evaluation difficult despite the good readability. 🎧🧐
- Results: The final log records a total of 80 QSOs. Operations were partially managed under limited internet connectivity, affecting real-time data synchronization. 📝💻
