30DA202 Javi: From DX Passion to the Great WBA World Beauties Award Activations

In the world of Freeband DX and field activations, some names quickly become synonymous with dedication, expertise, and pure passion. One such name is undoubtedly Javi, 30DA202, an operator from the Iberian Peninsula who is leaving an indelible mark not only within the Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) but also as a cornerstone of the 30DA DREAM TEAM during activations for the prestigious WBA (World Beauties Award).

A Profile Born on the Citizen’s Band Waves

Javi’s radio story dates back to 1986 when, at just 16 years old, he took his first steps in Citizen’s Band radio. With nearly 40 years of experience under his belt, Javi has been active across the Kingdom of Spain under several historic callsigns (including 30NSN002, 30MRV0764, 30RPB035, and 30SD202). At the onset of Solar Cycle 25, he committed to the DA-RC, setting his sights on the ambitious milestone of confirming 200 DXCC entities.

Residing in Paterna, a historic and picturesque municipality in the province of Valencia, Spain, Javi enjoys a highly advantageous geographic location. His home station is built in one of the highest areas of the town, ensuring an excellent transmission and reception (TX/RX) factor. While he is an avid collector of vintage rigs—affectionately keeping a Midland Alan 87, several President Grants, and his very first Intek FM-548SX—he relies on heavy-duty equipment for serious DXing. His current station features a Kenwood TS-590SG and a Yaesu FT-897 (ideal for portable ops), paired with a Sirio 827 vertical and a delta loop antenna for the 27 MHz band.

However, Javi is far from just a “home shack” DX hunter. His DXpeditioner spirit and 360-degree love for radio—spanning contests, digital modes, and tracking SSTV downlinks from the International Space Station (ISS)—naturally steered him toward outdoor operations.

The 30DA Dream Team Conquering the WBA World Beauties Award

When a passion for radio meets outdoor adventure and great teamwork, extraordinary partnerships are born. By joining forces with 30DA010 Sergio and 30DA201 Pepe, Javi helped forge a powerhouse activation team for the WBA (World Beauties Award), yielding incredible contact numbers that have excited hunters worldwide.

The team’s coordinated activations throughout 2026 speak for themselves, showcasing impressive consistency:

  • 30DA/P013 – Refugio de la Caseta de Perdiz (May 2026): A spectacular seasonal debut operated by Sergio and Javi, logging an impressive 374 QSOs and contacting 35 different countries across 6 continents.
  • 30DA/P012 – Els Surars Nature Reserve (June 2026): Moving to this beautiful nature reserve, the trio (Sergio, Javi, and Pepe) overcame unpredictable propagation to secure 250 QSOs, once again confirming 30 countries and 6 continents.
  • 30DA/P015 – Peñas Pardas (SOTA Field) (June 2026): In a pure SOTA environment perfectly suited to Javi’s skills, the team dominated the airwaves with 337 QSOs, reaching 35 countries and achieving a clean sweep of all 6 continents.
  • 30DA/P006 – Alto de Montmayor (June 2026): One of the most productive peaks for radio traffic, where the three operators logged a massive 323 QSOs, reaching 40 countries across 6 continents.
  • 30DA/CT007 – Castle of Vilella (Late June 2026): A charming activation from a historic site that gifted WBA hunters with 173 QSOs across 30 countries and 6 continents.
  • 30DA/HV05 – Molinos de Alcublas (July 2026): Their latest achievement—a brand new New One for WBA 2026—launched with high expectations to deliver valuable points (4 Hunter pts / 8 Activator pts) to the global Freeband community.

A Reference Point on 27 MHz

Whether climbing a windy peak to deploy a wire antenna or monitoring the international calling frequency 27.555 MHz USB, 30DA202 Javi embodies the essence of the modern radio operator. A concert lighting and sound technician by trade and an animal welfare supporter in his spare time, he is above all a dedicated operator always ready to exchange a QSL card and hand out an exciting over-the-horizon contact.

If you hear his voice breaking through the pile-ups during WBA weekends, don’t hesitate: tune your VFOs, beam your antennas, and log your contact with the 30DA Dream Team!
