AN EXTRAORDINARY SUCCESS: REPORT OF THE WBA 30DA/P006 ACTIVATION 📡

June is turning into a golden month for the DA Dx Adventure Radio Club! 🥇 Saturday, June 20, 2026, will remain etched in the club’s logs as a day of pure adventure, high-level technique, and immense radio amateur passion. 📻 The activation of the World Beauties Award (WBA) with reference 30DA/P006 from Alto de Montmayor concluded with an extraordinary tally: 323 QSOs achieved in USB mode! 🎙️⚡

This excellent result represents another memorable milestone for this season and is the direct result of the dedication, spirit of sacrifice, and perfect synergy of the team on the field, composed of Sergio 30DA010, Javi 30DA202, and Pepe 30DA201. 🤝🌍

LOGBOOK: PEPE 30DA201’S ACCOUNT 📝

“The day started early for the three of us. 🌅 The agreed-upon time was 8:30 at the bar in the plaza of Alcublas. This time we managed to have a coffee together and talk a bit about what awaited us up there, as we feared there might be noise (QRM) due to the presence of solar panels. ☕

The trip from Alcublas to the activation site was about 15 minutes, including the track that climbs up to the forest lookout. 🚙 Upon arriving at our destination (Alto de Montmayor), we noticed the presence of noise (QRM); not very high, but annoying enough for such an activity—something we couldn’t afford. 🚫 We always try to stay as far away as possible from any interference we notice, and in this case, we had to do so. We used 2 cable runs, for a total of 60 meters (35+25) deployed. 🖇️

Placing the antenna wasn’t easy. The ground was very hard, too many stones. 🪨 We found a gap between two stones that seemed like a good spot, with the assurance of placing guys so we could be more relaxed, because we had gusts of wind that forced us to reinforce the guys during the activity. 💨

The forest ranger treated us very well; she offered us shelter where she kept her car, moved her vehicle, and invited us to carry out the activation inside. 🏠 It was impossible to reject that offer; we were going to be very comfortable there.

The morning started very well. Around 8:50 UTC, we managed the first QSO, and a few minutes later, our colleague Lars from Thailand made contact with us. 🌏 We stopped for lunch with 90 QSOs achieved. Towards 10:06 UTC, we took our lunch break, and then continued with some small problems: the wind gusts forced us to take measures with the antenna, reinforcing the guys, and also constant monitoring of the antenna, in case it suffered a collapse (it didn’t happen). 📡

We managed to contact Malawi 226SR107 Mathews, which surprised us a lot, and the one who gave us the opportunity to reach 40 countries was Nicaragua 126SR001 Julio (Thank you very much, Julio). 🏆 The last call was made around 18:30 UTC. It was time to dismantle and leave that place impeccable, as it was quite an experience. Very happy and satisfied with the results obtained. Until next time, 73!” 7️⃣3️⃣

LOG ANALYSIS & EVALUATION: WBA 30DA/P006 📈

Based on the log data provided in WBA 30DA010 LIVE 1.5 - P006.csv, here is the technical evaluation of the performance:

  • Total QSOs: The log reflects a high volume of activity, confirming the team’s relentless effort throughout the day. 📻
  • Country Diversity: The analysis confirms 41 unique country codes logged during the operation. Reaching 40+ countries from a single portable summit is a fantastic achievement that speaks to the efficiency of the Delta Loop antenna and the elevation of Alto de Montmayor. 🏔️
  • Operational Quality: The team’s decision to relocate due to QRM and their meticulous attention to antenna stability in high winds were decisive factors in maintaining high QSO rates despite the challenging environmental conditions. 🛠️
  • Global Reach: The log validates the team’s ability to span continents, with successful contacts across Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, and North America, proving that the 30DA team successfully transformed this local Spanish peak into a global radio hub. 🌎✨

Concluding Remarks

The 323 QSOs (and the subsequent verified count of 41 countries) are not just statistical numbers; they are the emblem of a day where Sergio, Javi, and Pepe threw their hearts over the hurdle. They took the history, solitude, and beauty of the Alto de Montmayor and radiated it with pride across the world through the ionosphere. 🌌

Congratulations to the 30DA team for this magnificent June achievement! 🥂7️⃣3️⃣

👥 THE DREAM TEAM & FIELD SETUP 🛠️

Three fearless operators are packing their gear, lace-up boots, and radio spirit to conquer the peak:

  • Sergio – 30DA010 🎧
  • Javi – 30DA202 🗣️
  • Pepe – 30DA201 🎙️

Once they reach the rugged summit, the team will establish a field camp station (stazione campale) right in the immediate vicinity of the highest point. To ensure razor-sharp radiation angles and maximum DX punch on the bands, they will deploy a high-performance single-element Delta Loop antenna! Expect excellent take-off angles as their signals propagate from this majestic peak. ⚡💨

🏞️ THE SOUL OF THE SITE: HISTORY, NATURE & RADIO MAGIC

Operating portable is never just about making contacts; it’s about absorbing the spirit of the land and broadcasting it to the world. Alto de Montmayor stands tall at 1,015 meters above sea level, acting as a natural, breathtaking bridge between two ecological crowns: the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park and the Sierra Calderona.

From their field position, Sergio, Javi, and Pepe will be surrounded by a 360-degree panoramic masterpiece. They will look down upon the sweeping Palancia River Valley, out to the rugged interior of Castellón, and straight to the glistening horizon of the Mediterranean Sea. 🌊🦅

A Deep Connection to History and Spirit:

By placing a radio station here, our operators are interacting with centuries of human vigilance and spirituality. Just a stone’s throw away lies the legendary Santuario de la Cueva Santa, a deeply revered Marian sanctuary hidden inside a profound natural cave, which has drawn pilgrims for generations. Furthermore, the peak itself serves as an active forest fire watchtower—a modern symbol of protection and guardianship over nature.

As the single-element Delta Loop pumps RF into the ionosphere, the team isn’t just sending signal reports; they are connecting the global ham radio community to a place of ancient trails, sacred mysteries, and raw Mediterranean beauty. Every 59 or 599 logged is a tribute to the “World Beauties” this award aims to celebrate. 🌟✨
