๐Ÿ† ALL-TIME RECORD FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE: 250 QSOs! ๐Ÿ†

The activation of reference WBA 30DA/P012 has officially made club history! Thanks to the incredible dedication, operating precision, and sheer resilience of the 30DA team, the log closed at exactly 250 contacts (QSOs). This outstanding result sets a brand-new absolute record for the month of Juneโ€”a legendary milestone, especially considering the sequence of unexpected challenges faced throughout the day!

๐Ÿ“– THE LOGBOOK DIARY: THE STORY OF THE ADVENTURE ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฅ

By Pepe 30DA201

The adventure began at 08:00 AM local time. Javi (30DA202) came to pick me up (30DA201); we loaded all the gear and hit the road towards Almiserรก. Along the way, we encountered a very recent traffic accident. We slowed down immediately to call 112 and report the crash, as the road was partially blocked by debris from a truck and the involved car.

Meanwhile, Sergio was already driving out of Alzira, but a major hitch struck him: he called to let us know he had just blown a tire! “Perfect, what a great way to start the day!”, we thought. Fortunately, he managed to find a service station and fix the problem. Thank goodness it all ended up being just a stressful scare!

Javi and I continued toward our first pitstop, the “Bar Centro Social” in Almiserรก. Shortly after, around 09:30 AM, Sergio arrived. Finally, we were all together and safe! We enjoyed a relaxed mid-morning breakfast (almuerzo), though we kept an anxious eye on the clock since we were already running behind schedule.

At around 10:15 AM, we began our drive up to the Aula de la Natura cabin inside the “Els Surars” Natural Park (Llutxent). Passing through the villages of Benicolet and Llutxent, we took the turnoff toward Pinetโ€”a tiny village tucked away in the mountains. As soon as we left the paved road and entered the forest trail, we realized the path was in rough shape. We had to slow down significantly to protect our cars, which delayed us even further.

We finally reached the cabin at approximately 11:30 AM. We carefully scouted the best spot to set up the antenna and chose a sturdy wooden bench that was firmly anchored to the ground. Once the antenna was erected, we checked the SWR: it read 1:1.2 at 27.555 MHz. It just needed a tiny bit of trimming, but it was already a very acceptable value!

The real surprise came when we connected the radio: QRM at S3 with the AMP2 attenuator engaged! We looked at each other in total disbelief: “How on earth can we have S3 noise out here in the middle of the mountains, completely isolated from civilization? What is going on?” The mystery was solved when we looked up: hidden on the roof of the cabin were two solar panels! The culprit behind the noise was their inverter. We switched on the “IPO” function on the transceiver to attenuate the QRM, making it manageable, and began operations.

The morning started strong with fantastic energy. After the first 30 QSOs, I took over the microphone, marking my absolute official debut as an activator for the Delta Alfa Club (30DA201)! At that moment, propagation was excellent, and we hammered out 80 QSOs in just one hour!

Around 01:30 PM, we took a break to recharge our batteries with ice cream and coffeeโ€”a true luxury in the middle of the woods (huge thanks to Sergio!). We resumed operating with decent propagation, which slowly began to fade away. We refused to lose hope, even during two consecutive hours of absolute radio silence on the band.

But persistence always pays off! Around 06:00 PM local time, the propagation roared back to life, treating us to exquisite and thrilling DX contacts. Every effort brings its reward: mission accomplished! We began tearing down the field station at 08:30 PM, exhausted but incredibly satisfied with our 250 QSOs. The drive home was smooth and without further incidents. Thank you all so much for jumping in the pile-up! See you on the next one, 73!

๐ŸŒณ A LESSON FROM NATURE: DESTRUCTION AND REBIRTH

During the day, we took a short walk through the “Els Surars” natural site, witnessing firsthand what the devastating wildfire of 2014 failed to destroy. Twelve years ago, firefighters, forest brigades, and water bombers had to fight tooth and nail to prevent this ancient cork oak paradise from going up in smoke. Today, the tree trunks are still visibly blackened and charredโ€”a lingering reflection of the horror of the fire. The area is recovering very slowly; while the Mediterranean scrub and undergrowth are returning nicely, many high-canopy trees (like pines and firs) are still missing. A profound scar that reminds us of both the fragility and the ultimate strength of this unique environment.

๐Ÿ“Š LOG ANALYSIS: A GLOBAL RUN ACROSS 6 CONTINENTS! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ“Š

A closer look at our Google Sheets log confirms the extraordinary scope of the day, where the team’s grit turned every opening of the ionosphere into pure radio magic:

  • World-Spanning Footprint: True to Pepe’s words, the signal from our Delta Loop crossed oceans and reached all 6 continents, banking contacts across 30 different countries!
  • Top DX Masterpieces: Highlighting the log are incredible long-path contacts with Oceania via stations 91AT777 and 91AT109, followed by booming signals from South America (3PAT845, 3DA1, 3SD25) and Africa (34RC404).
  • Fantastic European & Short-Skip Openings: Intense activity across the European continent, featuring great contacts with Poland (161DA135) and an awesome short-skip opening providing a massive signal straight into the island of Sardinia (165PAT104)!
  • Pile-up Efficiency: During peak windows (such as a frantic run of contacts around 11:06 UTC), the field station operated at a blistering pace. Genuine 5/9 reports were handed out continuously, proving the team’s ability to control a heavy pile-up despite the local QRM from the solar panels!

๐ŸŒŸ SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTS

This DXpedition stands out as a triumph for three key reasons:

  1. Pepe’s Baptism of Fire (30DA201): Snagging 80 QSOs in a single hour during a wild international pile-up is the ultimate way to debut as an official Delta Alfa activator. Welcome to the family, Pepe! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ”ฅ
  2. Flawless Crisis Management: A car accident on the road, a blown tire, a rough forest track, and unexpected solar inverter noise. Many teams would have packed up and gone home. The 30DA crew handled every curveball with cool heads and smiles.
  3. Symphony with the Site: Operating among trees that still bear the physical marks of the 2014 fire gave this WBA activation a deep symbolic meaning. Radio, much like the cork oaks of Els Surars, adapts, endures, and emerges stronger after adversity.

๐Ÿ CONCLUSION

The WBA 30DA/P012 activation on June 7th, 2026, was far more than a simple day on the airwaves; it was a masterful human, technical, and outdoor adventure. Sergio, Javi, and Pepe proved that the passion and unity of the Delta Alfa club can conquer any road hazard, mechanical failure, or local noise, sealing a June record that will be remembered for a very long time! ๐Ÿ†

A massive thank you to all the hunters who chased us down and celebrated the birth of a new activator callsign with us.

๐Ÿ“ก “ELS SURARS NATURE RESERVE DX ACTIVATION” โ€“ 30DA/P012 ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒ

Hello DX Hunters & Nature Lovers! ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ๐Ÿ‘‹

The Dx Adventure Radio Club is thrilled to announce its next upcoming radio activation for the prestigious WBA (World Beauties Award)! We are taking our frequencies to a place where nature, geology, and history blend into a unique, resilient ecosystem.

๐Ÿ“… Date: June 6th, 2026

โฐ Time: Starting at 09:00 UTC

๐Ÿ“Ÿ Frequency/Mode: 11 Meters / USB (Upper Sideband)

๐Ÿ“ Reference: 30DA/P012 โ€“ Aula de la Natura “Els Surars” (Pinet, Valencia – Spain)

๐Ÿ“ Coordinates: 38.98015, -0.30372

๐Ÿž๏ธ The Venue: A Botanical & Geological Wonder ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿงช

Our activation site, Aula de la Natura “Els Surars”, is located in the heart of the Sierra de Marxuquera. This is not just any forest; it is a true environmental treasure. It hosts the only cork oak forest (Quercus suber) in the entire province of Valencia, officially protected as a Flora Micro-reserve.

While the surrounding region is strictly limestone, this specific area is a rare geological “acid soil island” that allowed these majestic cork oaks to thrive. Furthermore, this site is a powerful symbol of nature’s resilience. Having survived devastating wildfires in the past, the cork oaks have regenerated naturally thanks to their thick, protective bark. Operating from here means broadcasting a message of rebirth and environmental strength to the world! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ•๏ธ The Field Station & A Special Celebration! ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐Ÿพ

Our intrepid activation team โ€” Sergio 30DA010, Javi 30DA202, and Pepe 30DA201 โ€” will hike up to this magical location and set up a temporary field station (stazione campale) right in the immediate vicinity of the Aula de la Natura, deploying a custom single-element Delta Loop antenna ๐Ÿ“โœจ.

๐ŸŽ‰ A Historic Milestone for the Club! ๐ŸŽ‰

This activation marks a very special occasion: it is the absolute first official activation for Pepe using his brand-new callsign 30DA201! We are incredibly proud to celebrate his official entry into the Delta Alfa family right from this symbolic location. New energy, new callsign, same great passion! Let’s give Pepe a massive pile-up to welcome him properly! ๐ŸŽง๐Ÿ”ฅ

There is a profound connection between our amateur radio spirit and this site: just like the resilient cork oaks of Els Surars that adapt and grow, our club keeps expanding and welcoming new members, bridging distances and overcoming geographical barriers through electromagnetic waves ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’จ.
