On April 24th, 2026, Alex 165DA101 will bring the airwaves to one of the most iconic maritime heritage sites in the Mediterranean.Reference: 165DA/HV04 – Tonnara di Su Pranu 🏰Date: April 24, 2026 🗓️Start Time: 12:00 UTC 🕛Location: Portoscuso, Sardinia (Italy) 🇮🇹🏯 A Field Station in the Heart of TraditionAlex will set up a field station directly within the inner courtyard of the Tonnara. This isn’t just a scenic backdrop; it is the very heart of a complex founded in 1594. By operating from this courtyard, the activation literally sits between the ancient lodgings of the fishermen and the historic storehouses where the nets were once mended.🌊 Why This Site MattersThe Tonnara Su Pranu is a masterpiece of industrial archaeology. For centuries, it has been the center of the Tuna “di corsa” (the run), following migratory routes that have sustained the local economy since the Spanish era. 🐟The Architecture: The complex includes the “Palazzo” of the owners and the traditional ramps (scivoli) used to haul the giant Red Tuna from the sea.The Ritual: It represents the “Mattanza,” a sacred and complex ritual led by the Rais (the head of the tuna fishery), a tradition that defines the identity of Portoscuso.📡 Connecting Past and FutureThrough this WBA activation, we aim to bridge the gap between ancient maritime history and modern global communication.
