WBA 161DA/D015 Activation Report
What an incredible adventure! It was an intense activation full of emotions, despite the technical challenges and the quirks of propagation. 🌊📸
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who searched for me, including those who didn’t log in. It wasn’t easy having reports of excellent propagation everywhere but here! 😉 📡
Field Challenges:
The incessant calls put the equipment to the test: unfortunately, the batteries drained earlier than planned, the laptop stopped working, and the main battery died right at the best moment. 😦
Despite everything, I didn’t give up: I continued working using the car’s power, albeit with reduced power. 🚗⚡️
For those curious about the “field” setup, I used:
Radio: Icom 7000 (operating at 60-80 W)
Microphone: Icom SM20
Antenna: Skyper
📊 Log Analysis
Despite “Mother Propagation’s” whims, the numbers speak of an international success!
The World in a Log: We managed to work all 6 continents! 🌍 An extraordinary result considering the difficulties:
Europe (e.g., Poland, Italy, France, and Denmark 47)
Asia (e.g., Thailand and Indonesia 91)
Africa (e.g., Canary Islands – 34DA101)
South America (e.g., Brazil – 3KPI1)
North America (e.g., USA)
Oceania (e.g., various contacts in the Pacific)
Focus Thailand (153): A special greeting to our friends in division 153 who managed to break through the QRM! We scored 3 QSOs with Thailand:
153AT102 (Fred) at 09:54 UTC with a great 5/7 report.
153AT777 (Jan) at 09:59 UTC, also with a solid 5/7.
153DA102, recorded during the opening window toward Asia.
🔚 Conclusion
I fought until the very end against dead batteries and a less-than-kind propagation, but the satisfaction of having connected the whole globe makes every effort worthwhile. I’ll be back on-air soon, don’t worry! 73 to all the hunters! 🎙️👊✨

📡 Grand Radio Activation from Pasterska Island! 🏝️
Tune in to your rigs! Tomorrow, March 29, 2026, our operator 161DA135 Sylvester will bring the voice of the World Beauties Award (WBA) directly from the banks of the Oder River, in the heart of Poland.
The activation will feature a one-of-a-kind site, registered with the reference:
🆔 REF: 161DA/D015 – Pasterska Island
✨ The Importance of this Activation: History and Nature 🌿
Pasterska Island is more than just a coordinate on a map; it is a fragment of “silent” history from Wrocław that will vibrate again through radio waves:
- 🐑 A Pastoral Legacy: The name “Pasterska” itself takes us back in time when the island was a vital grazing ground for the community. Activating it today means honoring the ancestral bond between man, the Odra River, and the land.
- 🌊 A Pulsing River Heart: Located in the Kleczków district, the island represents nature’s resilience within the urban fabric. It is an oasis that has witnessed centuries of Polish and German history, remaining a steadfast landmark in the flow of the great river.
- 🏆 The Charm of WBA: Bringing the reference 161DA/D015 to the airwaves is not just a technical exercise, but a way to share the “World Beauty” of these lesser-known sites, which are rich in soul and heritage.
📊 Activity Details (From SBOTA.org):
- 📅 Date: 03/29/2026
- 👤 Operator: 161DA135 Sylvester

Pasterska Island (Wyspa Pasterska)Pasterska Island is a small river island located on the Odra (Oder) River in the heart of Wrocław, Poland.1. Location and FeaturesIt is in the northern branch of the Odra, near the Kleczków district. Unlike the more famous “major” islands of Wrocław (such as Cathedral Island or Sand Island), Pasterska Island is smaller and less urbanized, maintaining a more natural appearance.2. Marina KleczkówToday, the island is primarily known for hosting Marina Kleczków, a popular “beach bar” and small marina. During the summer season, it is a favorite spot for locals, offering:Beach Relaxation: Areas with sand, sun loungers, and hammocks.Water Activities: Rental services for kayaks and motorboats, as well as river tours.Events: The area frequently hosts live music, outdoor movie screenings, and small markets.3. EtymologyThe name “Pasterska” translates literally to “pastoral” or “of the shepherds.” Historically, many of these small river islands were used as grazing grounds for livestock, as the soil was enriched by river floods and the surrounding water acted as a natural fence.4. How to Reach ItThe island is connected to the mainland via a small footbridge located near ulica Pasterska (Pasterska Street). It is roughly a 15–20 minute journey from the historic city center (Rynek) and is easily accessible by public transport or via a pleasant walk along the river embankments. If you are planning to visit Wrocław, it is an excellent spot to experience a greener, more relaxed side of the city, away from the typical tourist crowds.
