ANT: DELTA LOOP 1 EL. / PW 100W (Pts H 3+2FIELD+3LOG)
Cullera Castle, on the top of the Cullera mountain, in the “Serra de les Raboses”. Built in the 9th and 10th centuries during the Caliphate era.
Cultural Heritage Item
Due to its location, it had great importance of control of communication routes and borders. During its more than a thousand years of history it has undergone various reforms and remodelling. The Christians won its property in 1239. It was a point of defence against the Barbary pirates in the 16th century and regained relevance in the 19th century during the Independence and the Carlist Wars. At the end of the 19th century, the sanctuary of the Virgen del Castillo was built next to the Castle.
Alcazaba and two albacares, for the gathering of troops and cavalry. Group of towers in the perimeter of the wall: Torre de la Reina Mora or Santa Ana, Torre Miranda, Torre del Racó de Sant Antoni, Torre Desmotxada and Torre Octagonal.
Castle that can be visited, It is the Museum of History and Archaeology of Cullera.
