📻 My Life on the Airwaves: Antennas, Adventure, and a Touch of Madness.
Ever since I discovered the fascinating world of radio, my life has taken a clear direction, one made up of shortwave radio, cables, and great satisfaction. If I had to describe myself, I’d say I’m the classic amateur radio operator but with a slight hint of… good old-fashioned madness!I have a visceral love for portable operation. For me, there’s nothing more exhilarating than setting up a station in an unusual location, far from the desk at home. It’s there, immersed in nature or in the heart of history, that my contest and DX man spirit truly ignites. The challenge of reaching the most remote corner of the globe or competing against time and propagation conditions is my addiction—a continuous adventure that keeps me glued to the microphone. However, the excitement of making contact is only half the fun. The other half, perhaps the more intimate and fulfilling one, is dedicated to building and experimenting. I am a passionate HF antenna builder; the construction of an antenna, its meticulous tuning, and the joy of seeing it perform at its best are moments of pure scientific and artisanal alchemy. Every dipole, every vertical, every array is an engineering challenge and an extension of my passion. And then there’s the dimension that connects radio to the land. I wholeheartedly embrace the spirit of the SIBA Award (Sites of Historical, Artistic, Cultural, and Tourist Interest). For me, portable operation is not just a way to make QSOs, but an opportunity to rediscover and promote the immense heritage of our country. I thoroughly enjoy traveling, discovering, and giving voice on the radio to forgotten or little-known sites, transforming my hobby into a vehicle for cultural promotion. In short? I’m an amateur radio operator with the soul of an explorer, always searching for the perfect signal and the most fascinating site… and yes, perhaps crazy enough not to fear adverse weather or a tuning that just won’t cooperate!
