A short distance from the ruins of Baratuli Castle, in the Monastir countryside, a winding, almost labyrinthine road leads to the delightful Romanesque church dedicated to Saint Lucy.
Simple, as befits a rural church, with a single nave and a single-lancet bell tower, it features a beautiful polychrome façade, a jigsaw of many shards—perhaps originating from the now-extinct village of Baratuli.
Construction began in the late 13th century, the church preserves two precious altarpieces from the 16th and 17th centuries. All around, there’s only peace, the silhouette of pine trees, and the rustling of leaves in the mistral wind. https://idese.cultura.gov.it/en/place/church-of-santa-lucia/
