We meet 1AT227, a very nice and friendly radio operator, until now often present almost an every on air appointment with SIBA in 2025! Livio transmits from the province of Genova, located in North West Italy. Here is his self presentation:
Livio, 30 years of waves, antennas and passion!
🎙️ Hi everyone! My name is Livio, 1AT227
I’ve been on the radio since I was 15, today I’m 45:
I started like many with the CB and… one day, hearing a Spanish guy transmitting on AM, I answered. He really answered me. That was enough to make me fall in love with DX.
I’ve been part of the Alfa Tango group for over 20 years, but I come from my first groups Sugar Delta and in Genoa, the legendary Romeo Golf Echo.
In life I deal with exceptional load assistance, but as soon as I can I get in the car and mount the antenna: I love portable activations, also because I’ve never had large operating stations at home. I build (or have built) the antennas and I always look for strange and fascinating locations.
And then came the SIBA Award.
What struck me? The passion, the sacrifice, the historical and cultural value of the sites. Every activation has a story, even if it is a ruin! And this thing gives me an extra push: to connect, read, learn and always be ready to climb the rankings!
Thanks to Alex and Gaetano, who brought to the world of 11 meters that spirit of HF that I love so much.
