Phil is a winner of the SBA Award 2024! His constant commitment and especially the performance of his Fixed Station are remarkable. We have almost always connected him in backscatter mode!
SBA TEAM: Dear Phil, how does it feel to be a deserved winner of SBA 2024?
Phil: “Hello Alex, the prize is very beautiful and original.I thank the SBA Team for this fabulous year 2024, I had a lot of fun hunting, Sardinia is difficult to contact from my QTH in the South-West of France, the signals were always weak but I always managed to make myself heard, it is a big challenge for me, I am happy to have discovered all these beautiful landscapes of Sardinia, thank you Alex, see you in 2025 with the SIBA Team, 14DA021 Phil.
We meet Phil 14DA21, a very correct and friendly radio operator, until now ALWAYS present at every on air appointment with SBA, often the first in the log! Phil transmits from South West France, between the Atlantic coast and the Pyrenean mountain, and therefore QSOs with SBA activations from division 165 are not so obvious. In fact, most of our connections occur in BackScatter with points towards the west, except in summertime, when Short Path propagation opens.
SBA TEAM: Phil 14DA021 what sacrifices does a Hunter as assiduous and present as you have to face?
” I make few sacrifices, sometimes I am late for my work but this does not pose any particular problem, I adapt according to Alex activity. The SBA allows me to discover this beautiful island of Sardinia through the many photos and videos of Alex , I find this island very interesting and I told myself that one day I might spend a few days of family holidays to discover more. I think the SBA is well designed, not much more to add, for me it’s perfect , a huge thank you to Alex who is active on the air and in addition he speaks perfectly well the French, 73’s 14DA021 Phil.
