The Cala d’Ostia tower was built by the Spanish in 1601.
In 1773, at the time of the Piedmontese, it blew up due to a tragic accident and in the same year another one was designed which was built about 20 meters from the Spanish one. of which the ruins can still be seen.
The Savoy Tower also called “de s’arrizzolu saliu” was larger than the previous one and is currently still in an excellent state of conservation,
about 9 meters high, it is of a truncated conical shape and is equipped with three watchtowers, an internal room with an air intake in the center of the ceiling, a cistern and a fireplace, it is packed up to the entrance floor.
It was built to defend the mouth of the Pedras de Fogu stream and the two coves of Cala d’Ostia, preventing the water supply and the attack of Pula.
