The church of Santa Greca (Sant’Arega in Sardinian) stands on a large square on the outskirts of the town.
The temple was built around the 16th century on the site of a previous monastery. During the 18th century, the church underwent radical changes; during this intervention, the wooden roof was replaced with barrel vaults. Only the apse area remains of the original 16th-century structure.
In 1933, the building was renovated again; the bell gable at the top of the façade was removed, an access door was inserted on the long side and the crowning of the façade was modified, now completed by a triangular tympanum. The bell gable at the top was replaced by the new square-barreled bell tower.
The festival named in his honor, which takes place every year in the last week of September, is very well known.
