On the top of a hill are the Church of San Lussorio, the nuraghe and a eucalyptus grove where the festival takes place.
Named after the ancient church dedicated to the saint of the same name, Nuraxi San Lussorio (Santu Sciori) is a Nuragic construction dating back to the Middle Bronze Age (1300 BC) of which the bastion and some towers can be recognised.
At the beginning of the 19th century. in one of them an urn containing human bones was discovered, demonstrating that the area of the nuraghe was occupied by a necropolis. The emerging part could only be the highest part of the entire nuraghe, which would therefore be semi-submerged and perhaps belonging to a larger complex.
The small church of San Lussorio was built at the end of the sixties, of the ancient one there are only the remains a hundred meters further downstream, towards the river and it would rise on the Nuragic settlement.
“There was first a rural church, dedicated to San Lussorio, an hour from the town at the crossroads, from where you go by tramontana to Uras, by mistral to Arcidano, around which many mortuary coffins with bones were found”.
